  1. After reading chapters 13 and 14 last night it made me think on the way to school this morning; Do I contemplate the wonders of God, the glory of his creation, and the joys of the spiritual life? Yes, I did take those 10 quiet minutes this morning as I drove to school to think about these things. I asked God to show me one way I can become a better person this week. Through my actions and prayers God will take care of me, and show me the correct path to follow.
When I read about Eucharistic Adoration and how it makes communities thrive it made me feel very glad to be a part of it. It is very meaningful when the students on Monday follow Father into the chapel as he begins Adoration. Hopefully this is something that will stay with our students long after they have moved on from Seton.

  2. Taking time for the silence in my life,--This struck me as I read. So often we become so busy and forget to take the time to talk to God. I liked the idea of turning off the radio in my commute to school and talking to God.

What is my misison? God, what do you think I should do? These are both important questions to contemplate. What is the purpose I have here on earth? Am I carrying out the mission of God or my selfish mission? Listening and allowing the Lord to answer the second question is so very important.
Lastly, I liked the quote" If you want to be happy for a life time, find a way to make a difference in other people's lives. That is a great moto to following. What have I done to make a difference? What else should I be doing.

Chapter 14 on the mass was very nice. Since I participated in the teaching mass last year, I have helped myself to better respect the events we are remembering. During our unit of the mass for religion, I have tried to help my students also to come to that appreciation. I think it is important to remember the mass is a gift to embrace.

  3. This chapter made me evaluate my time set aside for prayer. It's funny how I can look back on my life, and notice how much better things in my life got when I set aside time for prayer. Reading this book has been a great time where I can ponder the glory of God and get my purpose more with God's will!

  4. If you want to be happy for a lifetime, find a way to make a difference in other people's lives and what is my mission in life was the quote that struck me the most when I was reading. I hope that I am making a difference in my student's live instilling values and helping them try to be the best that they can be.
Silence is golden. Sometimes we all need to take some time for silence and prayer in our lives. There are days when we are so busy that we feel we can't find time for silence, but we can we just need to make the time.

  5. After discussing how to pray with my students, as being a time where they have a quite conversation with God. It got be thinking that instead of listening to the radio on the way to school, I should take that time as my silent time and pray to God. We have all be witnesses of the power of prayer.

  6. "If you want to be happy for a lifetime, find a way to make a difference in other people's lives" This quote also stuck out to me as well because it seems like so often we think of the "things" that will make us happy but when I really think about, helping others and doing nice things for other people make me feel better than any "thing" I could ever have. I think that this quote is a good reminder of what truly matters in our lives and what will really make people happy.

  7. When I read the thirteenth chapter, I thought about what I spend most of my time thinking about. Some of the things I came up with were family, friends, school, the holidays, and my ever-growing to-do list. I admit that I don’t put enough attention on God. I mostly pray to God when I sit in silence, which doesn’t happen enough. As the chapter stated, “Our lives our filled with noise.” I am a person who enjoys listening to music when I go for walks, having a movie on in the background when I am working on something, and listening to the radio in my car. At the same time, I am also a person who enjoys silence once in a while. With the busyness of life, I don’t get to have silence often. I should strive to spend at least 10 minutes of silence a day to pray to God.
A few years ago, I had a few struggles in my life. This made me turn to God. Each day on my walk, I would stop by the church for a few minutes to pray. By doing this, I felt like I was able to get through my struggles better, and I also felt better spiritually.

When I read the fourteenth chapter, it made me think about my favorite part of the Mass. One thing that I really enjoy about Mass is the music we sing. As I stated before, I love music, and I believe that music expresses a lot of feelings.
I like the idea of mentally bringing everything to God on the altar. It would really help us to see what is holding us back from God and become the-best-version-of-ourselves.
Finally, I like how the chapter stated that the Mass is designed to help us. By attending Mass, we should give our full attention to God and realize the gifts God has given us.

  8. I've always looked at going to Mass as our way of giving back. God does so much for us that we should honor him by attending church every week. Chapter 14 made me realize how much of a gift the Mass truly is, and that God once again is giving unselfishly to us!

  9. Giving 10 minutes a day to God seems easy enough but the reality of it for some days is more difficult than it seems. Sure I pray daily with my students, multiple times a day but time alone with God with me sometimes gets pushed to the sideline. If I wait until bedtime, often I fall asleep in the middle of my prayers.
Often, the best time for silence with God is in my car. I turn off 101.9 which is a Christian channel and just talk. Witnessing a sunrise or sunset can be a prayer for me all by itself. Appreciating God's wonders fills me with great peace.
Now that my girls are grown up, Mass is now more productive in prayer. The Mass is truly a gift and our presence there is a gift to others. We need community! And the Mass is our common unity with all other Catholics.
It is all about Jesus and striving to be more like Him every day of my life. But...through the Eucharist, we are reminded of our sinfulness and still forgiven. Awesome! Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed. Amen!!!!!
My goal now is before I roll out of bed, I will ask the big question:"God, what do You think I should do?"

  10. I was struck by the comment about being passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic about our mission in life. When I come across people who seem to hate life or always see the negative, I always wonder what is it in their life that makes them so miserable? Their job, family relations, something from their past? I like the idea of really taking a few minutes each day to think, reflect, and talk to God. You would think that this alone might make someone happier or help open a door for them.

  11. I spent some extra time reflecting on chapter 13 and the importance of silence in our lives in order for us to truly connect to God. I agree that if we have so much noise and chaos in our lives, we can't and don't hear what God is asking. What really struck me is the question the author posed--"God, what should I do?" That is a question I want to think about more in my own life as a wife, mother, and teacher.

In chapter 14 I took pause when the author explained that we are not at mass to be entertained. Mass is about seeing the wonder in God and asking God to "show us the way to be better persons this week." I really like that quote from the book and it is something I would like to take the time to reflect on.

  12. I will admit, I do not rest on Sundays. I realize it is a day to rest and reflect, but I generally tend to use it as a day to catch up on the things I missed during the rest of the week. Maybe one day I will use this day as God intended.
